Why?

Why build this pool?
Why now?
Why is it up to us?
Why is it up to you?

Because a high quality, neighborhood, Olympic-sized, heated, summertime pool for all ages will help lead our Williamstown area community to a better quality of life and a healthier lifestyle.

Because the pool will keep hundreds of students going in the right direction during the summer school recess...the right direction from the standpoint of personal health and also the standpoint of wholesome time spent in constructive activity under strong supervision.

Because our state, and the USA as a whole, is experiencing an epidemic of obesity and overweight which is threatening to further drive our cost of health care through the roof because of the many diseases and injuries which result from overweight problems. We need the pool and its closely related year-'round Walkable Community exercise support structure. West Virginia leads the nation in the percent of its population that is classed as obese (over 30%). If this shoe fits Williamstown, let's take it off!

Because this will directly benefit all who live in Williamstown, whether they have children in school or not. This pool and the Walkable Community structure will be unique in our state and will help define our community to ourselves and to others. Our community will be a more attractive place to move to. Our property values will be supported.

Because your mom said to. One of the great things about living in Williamstown is our small town spirit, a force which joins us together to act to keep our community a quality place to live. We don't wait and blame others for not coming to solve our problems for us.

Because it is a bargain, considering the immense values to be delivered and the many years the pool will last.
